Food Waste, Rescue, and How We Help
Every year, billions of pounds of food are wasted in the United States, while millions of families go hungry. At Community Table, we’re proud to be part of the solution by recovering perfectly good food and redirecting it to people in need.
Through partnerships with grocery stores, wholesalers, and food distributors, our team picks up surplus food that would otherwise go to waste. From slightly dented cans to near-date dairy and fresh produce, these rescued items are still safe and nutritious—and they help us stock our pantry with variety and abundance.
In fact, food rescue now accounts for a major portion of what we distribute. Last year, we rescued nearly 500,000 pounds of food. It’s good for families, good for the environment, and good for our budget.
Your support makes it possible to keep our food rescue operations running smoothly—fueling our vans and trucks, staffing our warehouse, and keeping refrigeration running efficiently.
With your help, we’re turning food waste into food security, one rescue pick-up at a time.
