February 2026 Table Talk Newsletter

Why the winter months are some of our busiest.

When holiday decorations come down and the new year begins, many people assume the need for food assistance will slow. At Community Table, we know the opposite is true.

The winter months are consistently among our busiest months of the year.

For many families, the holidays provide a temporary boost — seasonal food drives, special meals, and short-term support help stretch tight budgets. But by January and February, those resources are gone. At the same time, winter brings higher heating bills, increased medical expenses, and rising grocery costs. The result is a perfect storm for families already walking a financial tightrope.

We see it every day: parents trying to make meals last until the next paycheck, seniors choosing between prescriptions and groceries, and working families doing everything they can — and still falling short.

While community generosity during the holidays is critical, hunger doesn’t follow a holiday calendar. It continues long after December ends.

That’s why year-round support matters so much. Donations made in the cold winter months help keep shelves stocked, doors open, and services available during one of the most challenging times of the year. They ensure that when families need help most, Community Table is here — offering not just food, but dignity, care, and hope.
