Help a Child Start the School Year Ready to Learn

As classrooms fill with excited students this fall, thousands of local children will arrive at school carrying more than backpacks and homework. They’ll also carry the stress of not knowing if they’ll have enough to eat over the weekend.

For children experiencing food insecurity, Friday afternoon can bring anxiety instead of excitement. Without school breakfasts and lunches, many face two days with little or no nutritious food.

That’s why Community Table’s Feeding the Future program is so important.

For more than 20 years, Feeding the Future has helped ensure local children have the nourishment they need to learn, grow, and succeed. Last year alone, Community Table distributed nearly 30,000 weekend food sacks filled with kid-friendly, nutritious foods like cereal, fruit cups, shelf-stable milk, peanut butter and jelly, protein snacks, and easy-to-prepare meals.

The program also stocks emergency food pantries in local elementary schools and Head Start classrooms and provides grab-and-go meals and snacks for teens experiencing homelessness.

The need has never been greater. Food insecurity continues to affect thousands of children across our community, making it difficult for them to focus in class, stay healthy, and reach their full potential. A hungry child can’t simply “try harder.” They need nutritious food—and caring neighbors who are willing to help.

That’s where you come in.

Your gift today helps ensure a child returns to school on Monday nourished, focused, and ready to learn. It provides more than food—it provides confidence, stability, and the opportunity for every child to succeed.

As families prepare for a new school year, will you help feed the future?

Your gift can make an immediate difference.

  • $25 helps provide ready-to-eat meals for children facing hunger.

  • $50 helps stock an emergency school pantry with healthy snacks.

  • $120 provides nutritious weekend food for one student for the entire school year.

Thank you for making a difference. Together, we can make sure no child has to choose between learning and hunger.
