Helping Neighbors Through the SNAP Benefit Lapse
When families lose access to the food assistance they depend on, the impact is immediate and profound.
This November, 22,000 Jefferson County households are experiencing a temporary lapse in SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits, leaving many unsure how they’ll put food on the table.
At Community Table, we’re stepping up to make sure no one affected by the lapse in benefits faces hunger. Thanks to your ongoing support, we’ve been able to mobilize quickly to meet this sharp rise in demand.
Streamlining Pantry Operations
We’ve simplified our check-in and shopping processes to accommodate 25% more families in our Client Choice Shopping Pantry. By removing barriers, engaging more volunteers, and providing additional food resources, we’re ensuring more neighbors can access food with dignity and choice.
Expanding School-Based Support
We’re restocking existing and establishing new emergency food pantries in local schools, ensuring families have access to food where they already feel safe and supported.
Partnering for Grocery Gift Card Relief
We’re coordinating with the City of Arvada, the Arvada Chamber, and others on a grocery gift card drive to help families bridge the gap while waiting for SNAP benefits to resume. Grocery gift cards provide another way for affected families to access food when pantries are at capacity.
Boosting Food Supply
To meet the sharp rise in demand, we’ve increased our food purchases and are conducting food drives across the community. These drives help us fill critical shortages of proteins, pantry staples, and nutritious shelf-stable items.
