Five Cupcakes Feeding the Future thanks to Rheinlander Bakery

Throughout the month of September, every time you buy one of the featured cupcakes, Rheinlander Bakery in Olde Town Arvada will donate $1 to our Feeding the Future program!

The Five Cupcakes Feeding the Future are Mimosa, Peanut Butter & Jelly, Pumpkin Spice, S’Mores and Oreo Crush.

Rheinlander Bakery is also accepting donations.  When you give $5 to help fight hunger, you’ll receive an orange Feeding the Future wristband to show your support.  The color orange represents hunger.  In Jefferson County, 1 in 6 children lives in a family that struggles with hunger.

September is Hunger Action Month, a nationwide awareness campaign in connection with Feeding America designed to mobilize people to take action on the issue of hunger.

The campaign brings attention to the reality of hunger and promotes ways for individuals and organizations to get involved in the movement to help end hunger. We encourage you to take action against hunger all month long by donating food and money to local food banks, volunteering your time to fight hunger and by spreading the word and educating others about the issue of hunger.

In Colorado, 1 in 11 (9.2%) people struggle with hunger and do not always have enough money to buy food.

It’s Our Lucky Day!

Congratulations to Gaming Laboratories International on their 30th Anniversary and many thanks for donating to Community Table. It’s our lucky day!

To celebrate their 30th anniversary, Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) held a canned food structure contest at their 20 offices around the globe with all the canned goods to be donated to local food pantries when the contest ends.

The Wheat Ridge GLI office won for “Most Representative of 30th Anniversary.” Today their employees dropped off the 1,137 pounds of canned food they used to build their winning structure along with a check for $1,087, which will help us provide nearly 3,300 meals.

Postal Food Drive Tops Last Year!

Postal Food Drive Tops Last Year!

THANKS to the National Association of Letter Carriers and their annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, our warehouse is now jam-packed with enough food to feed families during the summer months when donations are typically low and families need more food to help feed children who are not receiving free breakfast and lunch at school.

This all-important one-day food drive on May 11 brought in 80,873 pounds of food!

MANY THANKS as well to the hundreds of volunteers and thousands of generous donors who helped make the postal food drive such a success.

Candelas was the winner of the multi-week Compete Against Hunger contest with 288 pounds. Leyden Rock had 124 pounds.

It’s not too late to join the competition against hunger.

Compete Against Hunger

Many thanks to the Candelas and Leyden Rock neighborhoods!

Both communities are helping us kick off our annual spring food drive with a little friendly competition. Over the next several weeks we’ll see which neighborhood collects and donates the most food to Community Table. The winner will receive a beautiful trophy and most importantly, bragging rights.

Our spring food drive is one of the most important we do during the year. Typically food donations drop off after the holidays. You can help re-stock our warehouse and make sure we have enough food for the busy summer months when the needs of struggling families are even greater because kids are not receiving free breakfast and lunch at school.

It’s easy to help. Watch your mailbox for information about the annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive and your blue donation bag. On Saturday, May 11 place your food donations in the blue bag and put it by your mailbox by 9 a.m. Our volunteers or your letter carrier will pick up your donation. Our goal is to collect 100,000 pounds of food this spring. There are thousands of struggling families who are counting on you.
